The Waste Lands Committee repoi*ted yesterday on the Tuapeka, Mount Benger, Blacks, and Manuherikia petitions to the following effect : — " That this Committee are of opinion that the only satisfactory remedy that can be devised for the evil complained of by the residents of the various goldfields in the Otago Province, is the adoption of the principle of free selection in the disposition of waste lands." — Signed, Alfred Domett, .Chairman.
