(From our Special Correspondent). "Wellington, Aug. 10th. The Petitions Committee recommended the Tuapeka petition of agricultural leaseholders and other residents. Petitions from Blacks and Alexandra on the same subject were presented by Mr. Mervyn, Mr. Stafford delivered an effective speech last evening on the proposed loan and the immigration scheme. He advised liberal land laws for settling the people before increasing the burden and taxation. The new Representation Bill proposes a reduction of the goldfields representation. Macandrew, Driver, and Reynolds are members of committee. Dunedin and suburbs representation increased by bill. '*-'";
