QUARTERLY LICENSING MEETING

Tuesday, June 7. Present — W. L. Simpson, Esq., R.M., and Alex. Stewart, Esq., J.P. Thomas Reynolds, Waipori, application for General License. Mr. Cox appeared for him. No objections. The License must be forwarded to the Clerk of the Court for indorsation by the Bench. John Roberts' application for removal of his License to new premises. Adjourned fqr 14 days to enable him to complete building. R. Grieve, application for a General License. Objected to by police on account of non-accommodation. The applicant admitted that at present he was short of accommodation, but that he was to build an addition. Adjourned for 14 days. Wah Hop, application for Bottle License for premises at Chinese Camp. Objected to by police on the ground that there is one Bottle License holder already at the Camp. No objection as to character. Granted. Hugh Fraser, Waitahuna, application for transfer of his License to John Morris. Granted. Ah Wing applied for a Bottle License for his premises, Tuapeka Flat, eight miles down the river. The police objected on the ground of inexpediency, and the difficulty of securing a conviction. Cox Brothers, Waipori, applied for a Bottle License. The Bench remarked that a License could not be granted to a firm. The police were highly satisfied as to character and fitness, the application to be renewed under the name of one. Adjourned for 14 days. John Tanton, Waitahuna, applied for renewal of billiard license. Granted.
