Mr. REID then moved, " That it be an instruction to the Select Committee on the Otago Representation Bill, that the number of members of this Council shall not be reduced, and that in filing the boundaries of and apportioning the number of members to the respective districts, due regard shall be had to the claims of the district, and the identity of interest of the inhabitants, and that as far as possible the Provincial Electoral Districts should be subdivisions of the proposed G-eneral Assembly Districts ; and that it be a further instruction to the Committse to bring up their report within one week from this date."

The motion was put and carried, and the House adjourned.
