BOARD OF WARDENS.
(To the Editor of the Tuapeka Times). Sib, — In your paper of last week, my friend, Mr. Robertson, has at length replied, to my complaint about the way he dragged me up without any cause before the Board of Wardens. Now, leaving out the abuse of his letter as beneath notice, there are two things any one may see from that reply — first, that Mr. Robertson does not contradict your report that " He had no hesitation in saying that I had double the number of cattle contained in my application ; v and second, that Mr. Robertson did so without having counted my cattle, or getting information from any one else. Mr. Robertson has not cleared himself from rash speaking. It is true he tries to help himself out by the Inspectar/'s report ; but the next time he listens to the Inspector he had better keep his ears a little opener, as the words I used to the Inspector were these, " That if Mr, Robertson, or any other individual, could find any cattle over the number I had accounted for, they were welcome to them. More than this I could not say. But Mr. Robertson very cunningly conceals the fact that the six head of cattle over and above those for which I sent in pay, were exempt, because. I have land leased and not yet enclosed sufficient to feed them. It is very fine of Mr. Robertson to make a grand flourish about his duty to his constituents ; but by what law of duty to his constituents does Mr. Robertson represent one of them before the Board of Wardens to. be published all over the country as false to his written word. I am quite oonten* to let thia matter drop. — 1 am, &c , I>. J, M'AItfTCTE. Lawrence, March 16, 1870.
