RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT, LAWRENCE.
(Before W. L, Simpson, Esq., R.M.) Monday, March 7th. Herbert and Co. v; Errington. — Claim of £6 55., for goods supplied. The amount was paid into Court. M'Cann v. Wm. Livingston. — Claim of £14, the value of a field of oats. Plaintiff in person ; Mr, Copland for defendant. Plaintiffs case was that the oats were sold by Mm to defendant ; that after they were cut defendant refused to take them, stating that they were damaged, A large amount of evidence was given on both sides, and his Worship gave judgment for £10 10s, and costs. Herbert and Co. v. Vause. — Claim of £6 10s,, for goods supplied. No appearof defendant. Judgment by default. Meade and Brim v. Campbell. — Claim of 10s. The plaintiffs were represented by Mr. Copland. They are road contractors, and are forming the road between Lawrence and Havelook. They sued for damage done by defendant's waggon passing over a portion of road which they were making, and which was closed by order of the Provincial Government Judgment was reserved. Hay v. Mears.— Claim of £17 Bs. £14 4s, 9d. was paid into Court. The hearing of this case was adjourned for a week. Hay v. Fyffe.— Claim of £8 3s. lOd. This caso was also adjourned for a week. Executors of Griffin v, Buchanan, — In this case there was a set-off, which was worded in such a manner as to lead plaintiffs to believe that their claim was not disputed ; but as it appeared that such was not defendant's intention, the case was adjourned for- a fortnight Mr. Keen appeared for plaintiffs, and, Mr. Mcraat for the defendant.
