BOARD OF WARDENS.
(To the Editor of the Tuapeka Times). Sir, — In your paper of February 19th, I called the attention of Mr. Peter Robertson to the fact that he had no hesitation in giving the lie to the statement of number in my application to the Board of Wardens for a cattle run ; and I asked him on what authority he made the statement that I had twice the number included in the application. To that, Mr. Robertson has not deigned the least notice. Am I to understand that Mr. Robertson has all but implied a lie to me without any foundation whatever. Further, the next time Mr. Robertson has no hesitation in questioning the written application of any of Ins neighbours before the Board, may I ask what value one may put upon his word ; for a man that attributes a lie to others should be very careful of his own words. To this I may add it may appear very pleasant to Mr. Robertson to send the Inspector on a gowk's errand all the way from Waitahuna to Tuapeka, and call a man away from the harvest field, where hours were as valuable as days to him ; but next time he speaks without hesitation, the Board would do well to recollect his needless business. — I am, &c, D. J. M ( Alpine.
