Messrs. Wuight, Stephensoht and Co. report :— There is very lifcfle variation to note in our stock market during the past mouth. Really good stores are in demand, bnt there are few sellers at the prices offering. Fut cattle and sheep continue in full supply at our quotations, and until grass becomes scarce we can hardly expect any improvement in prices. Fat Cattle — We sold by auction 108 head, principally inferior and middling quality, and quote — prime beef 25s ; middling, 20 to 22s 6d per 100 lbs. Fat Sheep. — Our sales comprise 1900 head, sold at auction. Merino 3 fetched from 4s to 6a each, according to quality ; half-breds, 7s 6d to Bs, equal to l£d to If d per lb. Fat Lambs, —6so brought from 3s 3d to 5s 9d per head. Store Cattle. — No transactions te record. Quotations : Bullocks, 3 years old, L 4 to L 5; mixed herds, L 3 to L 4. Store Sheep. — The following sal^s have been effected :— 4OOO half-bred wethers, 2, 4, and 6-tooth, at ss ; and 2000 fuil-mouth twes at 3s. We quote 2, 4, and 6-tooth merino wethers, 3s 6d to 4s 3 2, 4, and 6tooth ewes, 4s to 4s 6d each : mixed lambs, 7s 6d per pair. Horses. — Three consignments have landed from Wanganui during the month, chiefly light draught. There has been a good demand for heavy draught, and those sold at our yards realised satisfactory prices. Quotations : Heavy draught, L4O L4B ; medium, L 25 to £30 ; good hacks ani light harness horses, Lls to L 22 ; inferior, L 5 and upwards. Country Bales : — On the Ist inst., at the farm of Mr. Dickson, Waihola Gorge, fat bullocks brought L 7 each ; steers, L 4 7s 6d ; dairy cows, L 4 17s (id to L 7; store pigs, L 2 each ; horses, draught, Ll6 10s to L 46 ; hacks, L 7 10s to Lll 10s ; Waggons, drays, reaping machines, and othar implements brought full value. Station Property.— On the 28th ulfc. we offered for public empetion the Dalvey Station, comprising 19,000 acres leasehold, 1624 freehold, with 10,900 sheep, horses, &c, but were obliged to withdraw it, as the bidding did not reach tho reserve ; we afterwards sold it privately for L 7500, the purchaser being George P'oynter, Esq., of Southland. Wool -The advices received by last mail were not so satisfactory as had been expected, and consequently buyers were not anxious to operate. We held a sale at our stores on the 16th inst., and the prices realised showed no decline on the late rates. Washed fleece brought from 12jd to 13d ; greasy, from 6|d to 7f d.
