WAIPORI SCHQOL.
A meeting of the inhabitants of Waipori, for the purpose of electing a School Committee for 18,70, took place at the Schoolhouse on the evening of the 10th. inst., Mr. Robert Buchanan in the chair. The chairman in opening the meeting, explained the terms of the Ordinance, regulating the election of committees for side schools. He then called upon Mr. W. Farrant, who, in the unavoidable absence of C. B. Cairns, Esq., lion, secretary to the previous committee, acted as secretary for the occasion to read the report and explain the balance sheet of the outgoing committee. The report which showed that a great amount of improvements had been carrisd out, both i,n the Schoolroom and Schoolmaster's residence during the, past year, was received and adopted. In the financial statement a small amount remained to be handed over to the. credit of the npw committee, which appeared to give general satisfaction to all present. Proposed by l^r.- Jam,es Ritchie, and 'seconded by Mr. John Dunne — : that ihe new ' committee consist of nine members ; and that the election be by fcallot/ Carried. ~ ' - The following gentlemen were then proposed and elected as the new committee, viz., Messrs. C. B. Cairns, R, Buchanan, James Ritchie, JnokDunne,
J. Wetherall, W- Warrant W. Manly, E. Hill, and John Wilson. A vote of thanks to the phairman closed the proceedings. The newly-elected committee fyad a meeting immediately after the above, at which the following resolutions were proposed and carried :— :" That Mr. Robert Buchanan be chairman ? C. B. Cairns, Esq., hon. secretary ? and Mr. James Ritchie, treasurer.'' The standing qrders qf the past committee were adopted. The next meeting will, therefore, take place on the first Tuesday in February.
