CORRESPONDENCE.
ACCIDENT TO MR. M'CARTHY. (To the EdHor of the Tuapeka Times.) Sir, — With regard , to tho accidenG T met with, I beg to state that it is wellknown to the people where the accident happened that Dr. M'Dongall neither set my arm nor bandaged it, J might have died for want of any medical aid so far 1 as Dr. M'Dougall seemed to care for me. On the third day after the accident he came to see me very early in the morning and examined my arm, and told me not to be alarmed, as I was only Buffering from the bruises I had got. He visited me for two months, at the end of which time he told me, in the presence of several persons, that my arm was not dislocated. Not feeling satisfied with this, I proceeded to the Tuapeka Hospital, where I was attended by Drs. Stewart, Halley, and Johnston, .who at once declared the arm dislocated ; but I regret to say that their medical assistance was of no avail whatever; too long a time having elapsed since the dislocation took place. So I had to return home with my arm useless for life, and all through either Dr. M'Dougall's carelessness or for want of knowledge — when he repeatedly told me that my arm was not dislocated. I beg emphatically to deny the statements made by your correspondent in last week's paper, signing himself "Fair Play," I am, &c, Michael McCarthy. Dumbarton Rock, Dec. 24th, 1869.
