Before the election of the highest can be confirmed, the names of all the candidates havo to be sent to the Board of Education — their sanction being required to mu.ko the election valid. The following committee were appointed to choose a site for the school and see to the immediate erection of the building, viz., Messrs. Dawson, Brown, Patcrson, Taylor, Drysdale, M'lntyre, Arbuckle, and Mailler. About a week ago a company was formed by the following gentlemen, viz., Messrs. Mailler, M'Lei3h, Kerr and ! to prospect a spur where there were indications of a quart z reef. After operations had been commenced, and indications of gold had been found, it was considered advisable to increase the number of share holders to twelve, so as to provide funds to carry oufc the prospecting thoroughly. At the conclusion of the school meeting the chairman mentioned the number of shareholders required, and the following gentlemen immediately responded to the call, viz., Messrs. D. Reese, Taylor, Roscow, Anderson, Dawson, and Tyson and Co. (2 shares). The company now consists of ten paying and two working shareholders, and I trust the attempt will be highly successful.
