Royal Charlie was bred, by Mr Gardner, of Berwick. He was got by the wellknown imported Clydesdale stallion Prince Charlie, who took the Champion Cup for tbree years at the great Annual Show held in Melbourne, and was never beaten. Dam i ' a first-class imported mare, the winner of prizes. ' Royal Ckablii; is a dark bay, with great strength of boils and beautiful symmetrical action, stands' l6 hatids 3 inches' high, and has proved himself a sure 1 foal-getter. He has' taken many First Prizes ; also, in ISB6, ho took the Second P"me against all imported ; in 1867 he took the Third Prize at the Tokomairiro Shdw •; and in 1868 ho took the Second Prize a^th^e Clutha Show.
