CHURCH PSALMODY.

(To the Editor of the Tuapeha Times.) Sir, — I noticed a lettei* in your last issue signad " Presbyterian." The writer either is ignorant of his subject, or rather he gives a very one-sided decision in his letter in reference to the leadership of the Presbyterian choir. He complains grievously because the Committee did not elect Mrs. Brunton, or reinstate her in her former position as leader of the choir. Now, Mr. Editor, Mrs. Bran ton resigned her position, and the Committee had no other alternative than to accept the resignation ; as I consider neither the Committee nor the dongregation, in a just paih of dirty, could compel Mrs. Brmifcon any more than they might compel you or myself to lead the-singing in any church ; and when applications were invited, through the local press, from parties able and willing to peiform the duty, Mrs. Brunton, it appears, did not desire to bo reinstated, or she would have applied or put in an application; and I think, her application would have received aK^ due consideration from the Committee ; "■ and I for one give the Committee credit for the action taken in this matter, as well as others. If a committee be elected by any body or congregation, and afterwards, on seeing that some individual commences to try and throw cold water on their actions, through the public press, to change their course, I don't see the use of having committees at all. It is, in my opinion, only tha action of some person who would be ashamed to meet the Committee and vindicate the cause he has taken up ; and if he should think fit to reply to this, I ask him to sign his name, and I shall be happy to do the same. Trusting that you will find a littlo space in your valuable paper for these few lines, — I am, &. , A Seatholdes,.
