CHURCH PSALMODY.
(To the Editor of the Tnapekn Times.) Sir, — A memorial, signed by over seventy attmdants of the Presbyterian Church at Lawrence, was presented to the Church Committee, requesting them to reinstate Mrs. JBrunton as leader of the psalmod}'. The Committee refused to take any notice of the memorial, on the ground that only sixteen were members — commnnicants I suppose was meant. But, sir, have the seatholders and adherents, who subscribe to the funds of the Church, no claim to be heard ? they are always recognised when money is wanted, and especially every quarter. I fear if the communicants alone supported thft Church its funds would soon be very low. When the Committee was elected, all fcha seatholders and adherents were supplied with voting-papers ; it seems strange that they, the elected, should ignore the electors. As the Committee must now be aware that a considerable portion of the congregation is dissatisfied with the' pressnt arrangement, would it not be better, considering the importance of the subject, to call a congregational meeting) to consider whether sorm efficient leader should not be appointed for the psalmody? if they have the good of the Church at heart, and not the indulgence of their own spleen or selfishness, they surely cannot hesitate to do so. — I am, &c. f
