RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
(Before W. L. Simpson, Esq., K.M.) Monday, Aug. 16 th. Police v. Richard Heritage. — For being drunk and disorderly. Heritage admitted that he was a little fresh. Fined 10s and costs, or 48 hours imj^risonment with hard labour. Scott v. Power, Pantlin, and Co.— Claim, £10 165., for assisting to muster sheep at Canada Bush (on the estate of John Hardy). Dismissed ; each party paying own expenses. * '» Herbert and Co. v. A.Parker. — Claim, £73 55., for goods sold and delivered and promissory note. Verdict for amount claimed, with costs.
Thursday, 19th Auoxjst.
W. J. Speedy was charged, on the information of J. L. S Keen, with having fraudulently converted to his own use a sum of £29 133., the property of Eliza Marriott, and of which he was the bailee. Constable Smith prosecuted, and asked for a remand till Saturday, as it was intended to lay the information in a different form, so as to avoid sending the large number of witnesses to town, which would be required to sustain the present charge in case of a committal. Remand granted.
