WAITAHUNA.

(From our Own Correspondent.)

July 27th. On Monday, July 26th, a crowded house witnessed the entertainment by our local Christy Minstrel band. Their ebony complexions were brought out in strong relief by a snow-white back ground, and their make-up was excellent. Baylis, as " Bones," Devonshire, as "Tony," Pennel,as "Sambo," and Dr. Johnson, as "Snowball," were very good, and would not have disgraced the original Christy's band. The watch is an English lever, jewelled in six holes, and with appendages, valued at about £9. This testimonial was presented, on behalf of the class, by Mr. James Cromley, who, in a neat and appropriate speech, did hoWur to the abilities of Mr. Fry as class-master. Mr. Fry briefly returned thanks. A vote of thanks to the ladies was carried unanimously for the pleasure of their "attendance throughout the quartern
