To JOHN H. PRESSLY, Esq., Lawrence; SIB, — The time having arrived when it becomes necessary to elect certain persons to represent the ratepayers in the Town Council, we, the undersigned, re? spectfully request that you will consent I to be nominated as a candidate for East Ward. We are induced to make this request for several reasons, the chief, of which are that we know you to be thoroughly trustworthy, of considerable standing in-the community, and that your thorough business habits and sound common sense fit you, in no ordinary degree, for the position in which we seek to place you. We wish further to remark that in our opinion it is the duty of every ratepayer who is possessed of the necessary ability to take his turn in serving the electors in the various civic positions. — We are, Sir, Yours very truly, W. I admit that I have been but a comparatively short time resident amongst you, and that in consequence it may be thought by some that I am hardly justified in aspiring to the oflice in which you seek to place me, but I trust that, in the event of my being elected, it will be seen by my acts that I have deserved your support. — I am, &c, Yours faithfully, JOHN H.
