Downin de Dumps, of "The Blues ; " an individual of a very doleful, dumpish demeanour, who thought he was cut out for a ''commercial," but found he was a " commercial " cut out — married, 13 children, 5 of 'em twins - - - - Mr Abel Septimus Sellwell Jolly (Jolly byname and Jolly by nature; a "commercial" who, in a commercial sense, turns out a damaged bad lot —one who professes to sell well, but is eventually sold : a sworn enemy to Sniggins : married, no children - - Mr Downes Jabez Sniggins (a grocer, who Gets most grocer-ly abused, but proves in the sequel that he is not to be jolly we|l sold, even by Sellwell Jo)ly : a sworn enemy to that gentleman) Mr Keen Samuel J'Paih(;eH(awaiter, with plenty of brass, yet always - on the look out for more : one who sticks up for the honour of the cloth, i.e., the table cloth - - Mr. Fenwick Mr. Spebdy will preside at the Piano.
