THE BEAUMONT HUNDREDS.
(To the Editor of the Tuapeka Times.)
Sir,— I regret to learn that a few designing parties are attempting .to prevent the declaration of a part of Smithes and Maclean's runs into hundreds. * Were they compelled to keep watch and ward over their cattle as I have to <10, to prevent their crossing the boundary of Smith's run, they might not be so desirous of backing the runholder. My position, as. also that of the whole of the settlers near the boundary, makes me particularly liable to annoyance from the strict manner in which every beast even crossing the boundary line is pounced upon, and I have repeatedly lost several days hunting after my stock. 1 hope every settler will turn out to the meeting, as they have all suffered more or less. Indeed, I have often sayed many of them by turning* their cattle with my own. I can only say they would if they were like me A Sbxilißr on the Boundary-Lute.. Evans' Flat, 11th June, 1869.
