BLUE SPUR MINING NEWS.

(From our Mining Correspondent).

No great events have taken place since my last in mining affairs. All the claims are in full work, with the exception of the following, the proprietors of which are making" preparation for heavy blasting : Livingston and Co. are driving a tunnel for a heavy charsre of powder. As reported, about seventy feet of driving has been accomplished, through very hard ground, although not quite so hard as Mount Cenis tunnel. The Great. Extended' Coy. are driving a- tunnel for a heavy dose of powder ; and the Perseverance Co. have also commenced a tunnel for a blast. Hales and Co will fire a small blast this week, to square the yards in order to give greater facility for a heavier shot next time. Messrs. Hall and Co. have commenced taking up thoir bottom. This company are about to invite tenders for driving a tunnel through 120 feet, or thereabout, of solid rock, in order to give greater fall from the face of their workings. - The Otago Co. are not making much progress in No. 1 Claim ; the impediment is owing to the hardness of the lumpsj which have to be handblasted — indeed, some of the largest blocks have to be re-blasted. The Bri-tish-America Co. are making slow but sure progress. Tin's party are weak, only three of them being at work.

The Spar is healthy and solvent, and all appear to be pretty well satisfied.

I suppose tlie printer's devil holds me accountable for his errois, as I notica your local correspondent, stated that your Mining Correspondent made a mistake when he said L 5 per foot was paid for M'Nicol's business site, instead of ss. per foot. The "£" certainly had a better appearance than the " s."
