EXORBITANT PRICE OF BREAD.

(To the Editor of the Tnapeka Times.) Sin, — I see in your last week's paper an article on the high price of bread. I may say that it is Somewhat surprising that this matter should have lain bo long in abeyance. J observe "that your correspondent " 11. C." states that the bakers are supplying the hospital with bread for B£d. per 41b. loaf. Now, Sir, I might inform him that the bakers in Dunedin" are supplying the hospital with bread for 6d. per 41b. loaf. Nevertheless; I must say that I do not agree with the establishment of a bakery company. But there is one thing I would suggest, and -that is that, a miinber of families start to bake their own bread — which I am snre they would find a great saving to themselves. I might also remark that there is a splendid opening for a good baker in fhej| town cf Lawrence, as we have not or<» ■ who can really tuni out a firat-class loaf of bread. Now, Sir, would this not 6e a splendid opportunity for a new bjtferto come into the field and lower the price of to say 9d. per 41b. loaf, vhich i* a very j^od price at the present tune. "^ feel assu«,i ne wou ld have all the «**■<*s of the t6wji-,tall events, lie woui' 1 **** mine. — I ata, &c, •. •»•
