Q. Kermode, Escj., Mona Vale, Tasmania. " Lincolnshire Hero," bred by Mr. George Finch, Stanthorpe, Lincolnshire, is by " Young Honest John." " Lincolnshire Hero's " dam was by " Old Sampson," the property of Mr. Bryan, Leicestershire. "Old Sampson" took altogether 21 first prizes. ('( ' Uisixg Star " is a beautiful dark bay horse, stands seventeen hands high, is seven years old, and was got by that renowned imported horse, "Reformer." Dam, " Flora," a remarkably fine mare, imported. "Reformer," a rich bay with black points, and stands seventeen hands high. He gained the Highland Society's First Prize at Perth, in 1852, as a yearling. In 1856, at Melbourne, the Port Phillip Farmer's Society's First Prize, beating "Clyde" (Mr. J. Wilson's) and four other imported sires. In 1857, at Melbourne, the Port Philip Farmers' Society's First Prize, beating "Clyde" and twentyfive others ; at the same meeting won the Champion Cup, value, £30, as the most perfect animal exhibited. He has also taken a number of local prizes, and his stock have been successful as prizetakers. "Rising Star" will stand every Monday at 3lr. Patrick's Spylaw Hotel, Moa Flat, where good grass paddock accommodation will be provided, free of charge, l^nares from a distance.
