A few have dieclof tutu, though not nearly. §o many,' as' had died from the same cause at this season last year. | A man named Leslie, living about two miles down the Waitahuna Eiver, was on Tuesday last apprehended on a charge of sheep -stealing, and conveyed to Tokomairiro gaol. Leslie is an elderly person, the holder of an agricultural lease, and has been living and working alone. I mention this as there are more than one of the name in the district. Eroin what I hear of the circumstances of the case, there seems to be little doubt but that the crime charged will be proved against him. We are to have a grand entertainment here on Monday night, for the benefit of that insatiable Lut popular institution, the Tuapeka Hospital. The Waitahuna Dramatic Company are to make their first appearance in the extravaganza "Bornbastes Purioso," and a performance rich in amusement is anticipated. In addition, a number of ladies always open to the calls of suffering and charity, are to contribute songs, readings, and recitations to the entertainment.
