Lancaster, Beaumont, Will serve mares thiß season in the DISTRICTS of BEAUMONT & TEVIOT " Lord Palmerston is a jet black horse, 3 years old, stands 16A hands high, and is possessed of strong bone and good action. When one year old took 2nd prize in Tokomairiro, 1866 ; in 1867 took Ist prize at Dunedin and 2nd in Tokomaixiro, as a two-year-old. Pedigbee : Sire, the celebrated horse, " Lord Paisley," bred by Mr. John Millar, Renfrewshire, Scotland, and imported by Mr. Robert Millar, of Tokomairiro ; dam, chestnut mare "Nancy," imported by Mr. Hogg to Tasmania, and now the property of W. J. Dyer, Esq. She has been the gainer of many prizes. TERMS, £4 ; GROOM'S FEE, ss. All mares to be paid for before the end of January, 1869. 500 acre paddock for mares free of charge ; and every care taken without responsibility. THE CLYDESDALE ENTIEE lIOBBE "BISING STAR," IITILL Travel this season in the MOUNT BENGER DISTRICT. " Rising Star " is a beautiful dark bay horse, stands seventeen hands high, is seven years old, and was got by that renowned imported horse, "Reformer." Dam, " Flora," a remarkably fine mare, imported. "Reformer," a rich bay with black points, and stands seventeen hands high. He gained the Highland Society's First Prize at Perth, in 1852, as a yearling. In i 1856, at Melbourne, the Port Phillip j Farmer's Society's First Prize, beating j " Clyde " (Mr. J. Wilson's) and four other imported sires. In 1857, at Melbourne, the Port Philip Farmers' Society's First Prise, beating "Clyde" and twenty- [ five others ; at the same meeting won the i Champion Cup, value, £30, as the most perfect animal exhibited. He has also taken a number of local prizes, and his stock have been successful as prizetakers. " Rising Star" will stand every Monday at Mr. Patrick's Spylaw Hotel, Moa LFlat, where good grass paddock accommodation will be provided, free of charge, for mares from a distance. He will also stand at Mr. John Low's, Coal Creek, every Saturday, and will travel the Teviot and neighbourhood during the other days of the week. . " Prince Charlie " is a bright bay, rising 5 years old, stands 16 hands high, ( has a remarkably fine temper, and is an excellent worker. Got by old Prince Charlie, imported from Scotland by Messrs. J. and M. Macintosh, Victoria, out of an imported mare,- by Blackleg, who has gained many prizes in Dunedin and Taieri open shows. TERMS £3 Groom's Fee, ss. Licensing Meeting will be held on Tuesday, the first day of December, at the Courts of the Resident Magistrates throughout the Province, for the purpose of Granting General, General Night, Bottle Licenses, &c. Applications must be lodged with the Clerk of Court 14 days at least before the said Meeting. Intending applicants are reminded that the Certificates, together 1 with the License Fee, must be lodged in the Treasury, Dimedin, within 21 days (viz., December 22nd) from the above-mentioned date, or in default the^of for a further period of ~30 days the License may be issued, upon . payment of a fine of two in each case additional to the License Fee. All persons interested are hereby informed that the law will be strictly enforced, and that if they fail to make the necessary applications and payments, as herein stated, they will have no possible remody.
