It is well known that the richest and most extensive tracts of agricultural land in the Province arecomprisedin the country of whioh the Kakanui is the natural outlet, and that the building stone known as OAMARU STONE, which will doubtless be an article of great and important trade, is found in immense quantity in the immediate locality, and can be shipped safely and directly onboard of vessels lying inside the river, thereby securing the stone from daSaage by salt water.
