Mi\ Busseil moved,. "Tfiafr-'a-suß* committee, consisting of Messrs. Parrer^HayrM'Swiney, Drs.- HaHey-a»d-Sfttarart, and mover, be appointed for. the purpose of making arrangements -for the coming benefit." Secondedl>y Mr. Henderson, and carried.
A letter was read from the Provincial Treasurer, in reference to the balance of subsidy due to the Hospital, in which it still disputes the d62op,iadyerted to at great length at she general meeting ot January last. It appears that the Hospital books ' tally with the Government statement with exception of this account, and ihe discrepancy (if any) must arise from the fact ' that the Government conceives that after paying over the amounts voted for the year, that they have " squared " off the subsidy for that period, when in reality they are due £200 in excess of the sums voted, and therefore this account in accordance with instructions has been carried forward to the following year— : hence the mistake. It was, however, resolved to allow the matter to remain over until the Treasurer (Mr. Farrer) should visit Dunedinrin order that a full explanation could be given, and a satisfactory understanding arrived at.
After a long and animated discussion, it was resolved, on the motion of Mr. Hay, seconded by Mr. M'Clusky, ".That the matter be still carried through the books, and be left over till the Treasurer was in a position to arrive at a correct decision."
The Secretary laid on the table a plan of proposed addition to Hospital. On the motion of Mr. Eussell, seconded by Mr. M'Nickle, it was resolved, " That the plan be adopted and sent to Government."
A conversation followed regarding the proposed tank to be built for the convenience of the inmates, when it svas moved by Mr. Hay, and seconded by Mr. Russell, "That tenders be called for building tank, and that a meeting of Committee be arranged for the purpose of receiving tenders." parried. The following tenders for supplying Hospital for the ensuing quarter, were then opened : — BREAD. Harris (accepted) 9£d. per 41b loaf. MIIK. P.
