TUAPEKA MOUTH.

(From a Correspondent.) Mr. Clarke preached here last Sunday to a numerous audience, considering that only two hoiuV notice had been given ; the greater portion came from the immediate neighborhood. There was considerable talk about the necessity of having a large place of worship. We are much indebted to the Rev. Mr. M'Nicol, and the other members of the Methodist persuasion, for their efforts here, and trust their reward may be higher than any earthly power can bestow— the reward of bringing many souls to Christ. Their disinterested and unceasing efforts might well put to shame the ministers of both the Scotch and English Churches — more especially the Rev. Mr. Copland, M.D., who, nearly a year ago, told the Rev. Mr. Cullen (Mr M'Nicoll's predecessor) that he would endeavor to preach at Tuapeka Mouth occasionally ; but whether the reverend gentleman had more time then, or leas medical practice, I do not know ; anyhow we have never seen him here. I hardly think the paid exercise of the two professions, by the same person, compatibl3. I have known ministers at home who happened to be also medical men, who practised without a fee among the poorer I classes. Were it not for this, I believe we should have had Mr. Copland ministering among us at intervals, which would prove a boon to all the residents of Tuapeka Mouth.
