Be- 1 fore the first round was completed, Tommy gains second place, and ran neck and neck past the Judge the first time round with the leader Mountain Bay, who again shook off Tommy after going a short distance, Kitty Darling being close up, and in which order they ran to the straight, when the last named, who had been gaining every stride, came in an easy winner by three lengths. (Drury 0 Start : Prince was first to make tracks, and keipt a gpo,d commanding, lead for some distance." "Old Charlie theif rushed up to Prince, and ran abreast for about
a quarter of a mile. Tommy, being third, came close up to the leader Fenian in good position. First round, Prince was first ; Tommy second. In the second round, Old Charlie is allowed ta p^ss Tommy for a short time, who re. passes Oki Charlie, and gains on Prince, and was only a' length behind on passi^P the second time round. Tommy, being piashed too hard, broke, which gave Prince a good commanding lead. From this time Old Charlie loose* ground; Fenian nowhere. Tommy was again called upon to ti.wel at his best, and soon overhauled Prince. They ran almost level for about half a mile, and entered the straight in that position ; but Prince appeared to fag, and Tommy, running well, managed to forge ahead and win by a good length. Time : 13£ minutea. The excitement during thi3 race was considerable, owing to the horseß running ao. close together. HACK KACE Sweep of 10i. e»ch. Port entry. Catch weights.
