SELECT POETRY. COMPARISONS. Butterflies ! butterflies tell me true, Is there aught so fair in the world as you ? Aught so brimming with Innocent mirth, As ye dance about o'er the laughing earth ? Wild flowers ! wild flowers ! fretted with dew, ( Is there aught so tender and gentle as you ? So trustful, so true, methinks ye were given I For types of the angel-life in heaven. Little bird! little bird ! where shall we meet With love so pure as thy notes repeat ? "With love so joyous and bright and strong ? Thy life is only a beautiful song. Yes ! lightsome and fair as the dainty things That flutter about on golden wings ; And tender andy gentle, and trustful and true, - As the little flowers all fretted with dew ; And full of love as tbe joyous bird "Whose song in the summer sky is heard ; And dearer to me than word can tell, Or thought can think, is my own sweet NelL
