MEETING OF BOARD OF WARDENS.
(To, the Editor qf. the Tuqpeka Times.)
SirJ— ln looking over your last issue, I observed a notice to the effect that ,the newly , elected Depasturing Wardens, would hold their first meeting on Monday, the 10th inst., at the Court-house. Receiving jtio, other (notice than the above, I took it for granted that the meeting would take place in -■ tne '* evening. Accordingly I cam* down to-. Lawrence for the purpose of taking my seat, and judge of my surprise on seeing the Court-house I in* darkness, and upon^ further enquiry I 'found that tho Board had met at midday^ done their business, and left for j their : homes. Who is to blame for not I giving the members notice 1 I will leaye the public to judge. — Trusting you will find a corner fpr this, I remain, &0,, Jas. R. Gascoignb. Lawrence, August 11th, 1868. [The meeting of Wardens was called by circular, and we are in a position to say that one was addressed to Mr. Gascoigne, and given to a gentleman who took in hand to deliver it. Mr. Mackay we believe adopted this course, thinking it probable that if the notice were sent by post, it might not reach Mr. Gascoigne in time. Our correspondent will therefore see that the cause of the circular not reaching him was an' inadvertency on the part of the gentleman who promised to deliver it, and thus purely accidental." —Ed. %.
