THE BLUR SOCIALLY AND RELIGIOUSLY CONSIDERED.
(To tte M&rjtf the Tutycba Timts.) Sib, — Our Blue Spur Quadrille Society has come to grief, and the revival movement is also subsiding, so taking all in all things are pretty quiet for the present. I was taking a ramble through the Uraats the oiher night f riow > Mx. I fear these sudden changes are dangerous, as Bunyan- describes it —"The dog is apt to returti to hw vcjnit again." I heard and saw one- or two of them the other day licking urttheir vomit in a road case before Major «t the schoolhouse. One of them h an old offender, in fact, he is not conscious of his stumbles. I must leave him to his dearest friends. In conclusion there are many in this world who resemble those erring pilgrims of Bunyan, who having lost their eyesight, wandered hopeless among tombs they had a desire to find the right path, but their eyes were-sealed, and they stumbled continually against the grave stones. Now were our eyes open, and did no stones of temptation lie- in our way, we should all prefer virtue to vice. There is no man but hates meanness, falsehood, dishonesty,.impiety,*but our eyes are dim, and our temptations, are many, and the good that we would we do. not, but the evU which we would not that do. —lam, <&o.', Episoo^ixiAsr. 4 Blue Spur, July 24. , <
