ORIGINAL POETRY.
The sun is sinking in the west 'Mids rays of golden hue,And daisies bow their lovely heads, Bespangled with dew. Whilejblushing evening spreads her robe ni haste me through the glen To meet the*lass that I lo'e best In yonder cosie den. ' Oh, she is fair beyond compare : • Her een are bonny blue, "While roses Koom upon her cheeks : Her heart is warm and' true. There's love and grace in her sweet face ; She's modest, rank and. free ; C Her witching smile may weel beguile The birds frae aff the tree. We'll wander by the chrystal stream That 'wimples to the sea, While feathered songsters nil the air TVi' rapturous melody. l Oh, what 1 is- wealth wi' a' its power Compared, wi' virtuous love? ! "Tis mammon grovelling in the dust, While Cupid soars' above. ; ~ Craigieleb. , Jnly, 1868. .
