Curious Phenomenon. — Tt is a curious £act connected with deep mining, that from the hours of twelva at night till three in the morning the disturbing influence in tlie bowels of the earth obtains increased activity. At that time it is observed by miners that water falls from places where none is obsevable during the day. The volume in the wheel is perceptibly increased, the j atmosphere is charged with gases ; which prevent the lights from burning, and small particles of earth and rock are observed to fall from the tops of the drives. It is worthy of the attention of the curious, whether this phenomenon is to be attributed to the dinrnal motion of the earth or other causes. Cure for Chilblains. — It is said that speedy relief is obtained by simply rubbing the parts affected with kerosene pit two or three plications being generally sufficaeafc to perform a «tr«.
