Polygamy in Utah — There has been a great demonstration among the "saints" of Salt Lake in favor of polygamy. Brother Sloan, editor of the " Deseret News," declared himself a polygamist who had violated and would continue to violate the laws of Congress against that institution, Elder Kimball pronounced Brother S. sound. He (Kimball) had, he said, seventy children, and calculated that in fifty years the Kimball family would outnumber the present number of saints. The speakers generally maintained that polygamy was the only way of upholding their community.
