Butson and party's race, 2 feet deep by 4 feet wide ; to carry about 20 heads of water ; through solid rock a quarter of a mile Booth, Hurst and Co., 3 heads from Shepherd's Creek, and 2 from Northwest Creek, a distance of 9 miles Butson and party have another race nearly completed, from Burnt Creek to Caldwell Point, 7 miles ; 10 heads Shaw and party, extension of race from Rocky Creek to Long Gully, 5 miles; 4 heads Lees and party, from head of Deep Stream to Waipori Gorge, 20 miles ; 12 heads Bolton and party, from Nardoo Bush to Johnston's Point, Waipori township, 10 miles ; 6 heads Taylor and party, from Devil's Creek to Fiddler's Gully, Deep Stream, 4 miles ; 5 heads Bell and party, extending race from Long Gully (south side of river) to Frenchman's Gully (below Dickson's Diggers' Rest Hotel), 5 miles ; 3 heads Fred. Johnston and party, from Ferris' Gully to Portuguese Spur, Lammerlaw, 3 miles ; 2 heads James Clark Elliot aud party, from Butcher's Point, Lammerlaw, to Maori Ned's Point, Lammerlaw Creek, at feot of Lomas', l£ miles (just completed); 5 heads Lomas and party, extending their race from Butcher's Point to junction of Nardoo and Lammerlaw Creeks, 4 miles ; 4 heads Wm Farren and Dennis Malone, race and dam from gully in Lammerlaw Creek to a flat at foot of Lammerlaw, 1 mile ; 2 heads. In this race there is a fluming 120 feet in length and 20 feet in height, spanning two spurs.
