LAWRENCE TOWN COUNCIL.
The Town Council net on Wednesday evening, the 13th inst. Present : — The Mayor and Cra. Robertson, Aimers, and Jeffery. The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. There was then a letter read from Mr. Murray informing the Council of the •ompletion of water supply contract, and requesting payment of L3OO cash balance, and debentures for remaining L4OO. O. Robertson proposed, and Cr. Jeffery seconded, " That the L3OO cash be retained until the Council be satisfied that the contract has been completed satisfactory." Carried. Letter from Mr. Murray, offering sur. plus pipes, &c, for the sum of LSO sterling. Received. Moved and seconded, "That Mr. Murray's offer be referred to Water Committee." Carried. Account from Mr. H. Crump, for professional services in taking levels for formation of footpath north side of Ross Place, LI Is. Tenders for the maintenance o* the streets and Inspector of Nuisances, were then opened. Maintenance Inspector- Names per annum. ship. No. 1 £100 0 0 £20 Mr. Buckley „ 2 80 0 0 20 „ Anderson „ 3 118 0 0 Inclusive „ Blewitt 4 75 00£ X 0 „ Ryan „ 5 100 0 0 25 „ Johnston 6 131 0 0 Inclusive „ Brossnan „ 7 86 14 6 do. „ Tuckey 8 80 0 0 £20 O'Loughlin Moved and seconded, " That strangers be required to withdraw while the tenders are being discussed." Carried. Proposed by Cr. Jeffery, and seconded by Cr. Aimers, " That the lowest tender, no. 7, Mr. John Tuckey 's, be accepted." Carried. Mr. Tuckey was therefore declared the successful tenderer. Proposed by Cr. Robertson, and seconded by Cr. , " That Mr. Tnckey receive all orders or instructions from the Mayor." Carried. Proposed by Or. Jeffery, and seconded by Cr. Aimers, " That the Water Supply Committee make regulations in reference to the tapping of the main water pipes for the supply of houses, &c." Carried. Proposed by Cr. Robertson, and seconded by' Or. Jeffery, "That the Town Clerk be instructed to produce letter received from Provincial Secretary in reference to Municipal Reserveß." Carried. It was then moved amd seconded; "That the Water Snpply Committee meet on Friday, the 15th inst., at three o'clock p.m., for the purpose of inspecting Mr. Murray's contract, and testing pipes."
