(To the Editor of the Tuapeka Times.) Sir,— l observe by telegram in the " Bruce Herald " of the 22nd inst., that I am reported to have expressed great indignation at the conduct of the Government towards Mr. Inspector Morton, at the meeting held in the Commercial Assembly Rooms, Lawrence. In reply, I beg to state that I did no such thing; but considered, as I do now, that the Government, being the only parties responsible for either Mr. Morton's dismissal from, or retention in, the police service/ they are therefore the only parties who have a right to deal in the matter, especially considering the limited information the public have on the subject. — I am, sir, &0., Peieb RoßßfcTdoy.
