Anothef i the incurable patients wished to go to Melbourne, Eegarding the latter, > was an old man, a Swede, and had been vi the Hospital three years. It would be far cheaper for the Hospital Commit to send him away ; they WouM . quire to pay the patient's exp&isfcntf Dunedin, as the Government would my ** passage money to Melbourne • his Hono, the Superintendent had proxnised as much when lately in Lawrence! I Mr. Smith then moved, "That mF f Keen be authorised on behalf of the Hospital to gain information necessary to recover the amounts due the Hospital » He thought it was very good of .Mr. Keen to offer his services gratuitously. The resolution was seconded by Mr. M'Clusky and carried unanimously. The next business brought before the Committee was with .refereace tjitthe tender for printing the Annual Eep^ The tender box was then opened and the tenders read, which were as follows •-* Matthews and Johnston, £4 io s 6^* Ferguson, Burns, and Ludfofd, £2 19 S . 4Qa
Mr. Smith proposed, and Mr. HxarjuJf^ so* seconded, "That the lowest tenderbe accepted."— Carried. Mr M'Nickle was appointed one of the Visiting Committee in place of Mr. Haves who retired by rotation. ' Dr. Stewart said there was another matter which he would suggest .for the Committee to deal with. There were now two newspapers in the place, and the expense of advertising in two papers was a serious item. The advertising and printing connected with the Hospital for the last year amounted to £60 or £70 and the cost now, he supposed, would be nearly doubled. It was for themselvea to decide whether they should advertise in both. Mr. Smith would decidedly give the work for printing and advertising to the cheapest. But it was thought advisable to leave the matter over to next Committee meeting, when there might be a larger attendance.
Mr. M'Nicklb proposed, and Mr. Smith seconded, «^sUiß^jMgfi 1 -JD**azJbuA^& acfv^dln*K papers, and that further consideration of this subject be deferred to next meeting of Committee. M
No other business being brought before the Committee, a vote of thanks was passed to the chairman, and the meeting separated.
