OLD LANCASTER PARK GROUNDSMAN DIES.

The death occurred at Longrock, Penzance, Cornwall, on November 15, of James French. The claim to notice in Christchurch of the late Mr French is that he was groundsman of Lancaster Park in the very early days, and was responsible for first bringing the ground into good playing condition. Members of the early controlling body who are still living remember the work of

“Jim,” Frencvh who was very popular with the cricketers, and discharged his duties in a completely satisfactory manner. He was an excellent groundsman.
