MILITARY PAGEANT AND SEARCHLIGHT TATTOO.
Matters-in connection with the Grand Military Pageant and Searchlight. Tattoo are well forward and all subcommittees have presented good reports to the executive. At the meeting of the Grounds Committee on Thursday at the Show Grounds it was decided to prepare plans and specifications for increasing the grand stand accommodation. The present stands will accommodate 2600 people, but this was not considered to be sufficient and the committee, decided to increase the number to 5000. Very large dressing-room accommodation will be required for the 1700 performers who are taking part in the pageant. The committee thoroughly inspected the accommodation available on the grounds, and found that it would be ample for all requirements. Several wooden structures will have to he built around the arena for the staging of the " Highland ” scene, and the final scene, •• The Soldiers of the King.” Plans are being prepared for these and tenders will be called at an tarly date.
