DAME CLARA BUTT HAS BOY PROTEGE.

LONDON, November 24 I Dame Clara Butt has adopted as her j musical protege Stanley Ayres, aged I ten, the son of a London delivery carI man, for whom she has arranged to J provide a musical education. I She made the announcement last evening at her Hampstead house, when dhe presented the boy to a distinguished audience. He gave a demonstration of his ability as a pianist, playing Haydn. Chopin, and Holbrooke. Dame Clara said he was one of the musically talented children of poor parents discovered by the Levinskaya Musical Scholarship Association. “As soon, as my attention was drawn ■ to him I realised that he was an excep- | tionally gifted bov.’’ sr.id Dame Clara. “He has great talent and the temperament of the artist. I am therefor* granting him a scholarship under the Levinskaya Association for Poor Children. I firmly believe he has the making of a brilliant British pianist
