TE PUKE TOWN BOARD.
FORTNIGHTLY MEETING.
The fortnightly meeting of the TePuke Town Board was held on Monday night, the whole of the members of the Board being present, viz., Messrs T. Palmer (Chairman), R.. King, J. Brown, T. P. Lemon, R. Tees, L. Bayhss, and A. Montgomery. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence was received from the Public Health Department, notifying that the question as to who should bear the cost incurred through the appointment of special constables during the small-pox scare, was being enquired into. A letter was read from the Lands and Survey District Office, Auckland, asking the Beard to specify the sections in the vicinity of the Kiri Kiri it wished to have vested in it.-It was resolved to request the Land Board to furnish the names of the owners of sections 3,' 4, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15. Severance from the County., Mrßayliss moved, in accordance with notice given, that the Town Board of the TePuke Town District apply to the Governor that he be pleased to declare by Order-in-Council gazetted that the Te Puke Town district shall not form part of the County within the boundaries of which it is situated, being the County of Tauranga. The motion was seconded by Mr Lemon and carried.
Insurance. ' The Royal Insurance Company wrote, forwarding the terms ; upon which members of. the Fire Brigade could be insured under the Compensation Act. On themotionofMrKing, the matter of insuring members of the Brigade was left in the hands of the Chairman,- Vv Montgomery, and the mover. Cottage Hospital. The Chairman reported that a resolution had been carried at a cQncert held recently in aid of a cottage hospital fund, that the Town Board be asked to take ths matter up, and he had much pleasure, therefore, in nominating Messrs J. M. Roberts, F. Arkle. J, McDowell, E. Hoytc, Rev Hobbs, and Dr Young as a Citizens■ Committee to further tne project. The Board should also, he thought, be represented by two members. The Chairman and Mr Bayliss were appointed to represent the Board on the Committee. Miscellaneous. The Chairman and Mr King were appointed to sign the ratebook. The Clerk (Mr Hodge) was appointed valuer to the Board. On the motion of Mr Bayliss, it was resolved that the Board join the Municipal Association.
