SEAMEN DISCUSS POSITION.

Wellington, Thursday. When the conference between the representatives of the seamen and of the shipowners had concluded in Wellington yesterday, Mr W. T. Young, Secretary of the Wellington Seamen's Union, made the following official announcement: "So far as the seamen are concerned, the strike is not yet settled. Mass meetings of our members at Auckland, Dunedin. and Wellington, have been arranged for to-morrow, and at those meetings the'final conclusions of the shipowners will be submitted for ratification or otherwise. Until those meetings have taken place our members are not free to engage on|any ship.
