—fr— —~V-" At the meeting of the Tauranga County Council last week, a letter was read from Mr H. J. Gill, to the effect'that henoticed! a petition -from the Upper: Te Matai settlers had been sent to the Council with reference to th§ road, and the time of year whenit should be formed. He said : "Thereis no difference of- opinion amongst any of the settlers re this matter. All are agreed that the present would not be a * suitable time, although the sec- , . ond petition did not state this and we are also agreed that either early autumn or spring, say early • in March or August, would be the most suitable times of year in . which to do the work. In the former petition the months-'of June and July were mentioned being the time of year which th(V. - settlers would find most convenient to assist in the matter of widening the road." The Council decided that, 1 the improvements to the road be carried out in March.
