TAURANGA COUNTY COUNCIL
MONTHLY MEETING.
The monthly meeting of the Taurariga County Council was held on Tuesday last, Present: ' Councillors H. Southey (Chair--1 man), C. Lally, W. J. Griffin, E. J. Matthews, 1 Ivl. Spence, J.,8. ' Stevenson, J. Hume, and G. V. Stewart. ' The Secretary of the - Department'Of Agriculture wrote in regard'to the closing of a road 1 ' bounding one side of the Experimental Farm at Tauranga, and stated that the Government had no objection to the proposal. branch of the Farmers' Union, • wrote, asking the Council to co'"operatel^with; the Matamata •Council and the Kaimai 1 branch . of the Farmers' Union to induce Ministers of'the 'Crow.n when next visiting the Bay of Plenty to travel ■ via 1 the CambridgeTauranga road and have the road officially opened-No action was taken; . . A letter was received from Mr
Mr C. F; Giesen, draughtsman, of Auckland, stating that there is no plan of any road deviation in - road fronting- sections 559,558, Block 7, Otanewainuku, nor has any been taken by conveyances. ; .—Held over. . ,(> -The Treasury notified remission of £76 10s, for clearing scrub, etc., on the Ngawaro-Te Puke, road. « Ngawaka leni, Maketu, wrote asking for details of rates on : vNgaihumutu, and stating lie was prepared to pay same.—Left in the hands of the Clerk. •'. Mr. Kensington, Oropi, wrote ■ requesting that a culvert be placed at the approach to his gate. -The Council decided to inform Mr' Kensington that it is the custom for occupiers of property to put in culverts. , .Mr W. J. Gray., supervisor, Btated that when in Maketu Mr : Pinker, senr., asked him if a sum. of £3 could beexpended on; ■a road through his property. Mr . Gray said he would be glad if the .' Council would say . what was to .' be done in the matter. A'letter from Mr Alfred Pin- ' .ker, Maketu, received at,the last -'meeting, was again, referred to. r- .MrPinker wrote re public roads v : -at; Maketu,V and requested that the Council cavry. out jthe, provisibns of section 153, subsection 3. t of .the Coun ties Act, '1908.' CrLally proposed that Mr Pinvker be informed that the Council is willing to take the necessary : :: steps:to acquire a roadway to his under section 89 of the :Public Works Act, 1908, provided that lie is prepared >to pay all costs in connection with same.Carried.
