The Te Puke Times TUESDAY, OCTOBER 21. A WELL-DESERVED TRIBUTE.
A well-deserved compliment was paid to Mr T. P. Lemon, the popular President of the local Agricultural and Pastoral Association, on Saturday last, when he was unanimously elected to fill that office for the third year in succession. Hitherto it has not been the custom for one man to occupy the position for more than two years, but Mr Lemon has proved himself so untiring in his efforts to advance the interests of the Association, and has displayed such devotion in carrying out his duties,' that, members were, naturally, desirous of retaining his. services for another twelve months. Mr' Lemon is a man of action rather than words, and he not only does not spare himself, but he has the gift of getting his fellow members to put their shoulders to the wheel. The glamour of office has no charm for him. He believes that unless a man is prepared to work he should not accept the position of President, and all who take an interest in the Association must admit that he has been true to his principles. Mr Gill's eulogistic reference to the manner in which Mr Lemonjhad carried out his duties was thoroughly well-deserved. We were glad to see that the mover of the resolution that the President be re-elected did not omit to make allusion to the very great assistance the lady members of that gentleman's family have invariably rendsrcd at every .function held under the auspices of the Association. The appreciation in in which those services are held was shown by the hearty applause that greeted Mr Gill's re-
marks.
