CIRCULAR TO WAIKATO The United Hay of Plenty Railway League has sent the following circular letter to all the local bodies in the Waikato district " Enclosed herewith is a copy of the rules of the Hay of Plenty Railway League, formed for the purpose of securing the speedy construction of the railway between Tauranga and Opotiki, with connection with the main railway system via Rotorua. Realising that the ultimate route of the connection with the Hast Coast railway will greatly affect the Waikato, this League seeks your co-operation in advancing its objects, in one. or hotter still, both of two ways. The first is to affiliate with the league, appointing a delegate either personally or by proxy as provided The second is by signifying support of the platform a* set out in the roles. This platform will lie circulated in the course of a few days among the bodies interested for signature prior to presentation to the Minister, and we r.sk, if your (body is in favor of it, that a resolution authorising signature on behalf of the body m;;y be passed in order that the docu. merit may be completed as soon as possible."
the principal plank in the plat form is the promotion of the East Got Main Trunk railway via jtoiorua and Paenjjaroa, and the immediate construction of the section between PaenKaroa and Opotiki. The league is to consist of <k*!e?:r«te,sappointed i\v budies favorable to theiplatform.
It h tolerably manifest that tiie construction of the line sinenested would benefit the Waikatu district. This affords sufficient reason for all tiie local bodies to join th.' leanue and in the project.
