Wellington, Thursday. The High Commissionei's cable dated London, August 9th, is as follows Mutton—The market is steadier and prices firmer for heavyweights. Canterbury, 41d; North Island, 41d. Lamb - The market is depressed and prices have declined. There is small demand. Canterterbury two's 5 9-lGd; heavyweight fours, 4gd; other than Canterbury, 5Jd. Beef—The market is quiet, with poor demand for forequarters. New Zealand hindquarters 4d ; fores 3d ; chilled hinds, 5d ; fores 3d. Butter—The market is weak, but prices are virtually unchanged. Chesse-Tha market is firmer,' especially for New Zealand, owing_ to small supply. _ Canadian arrivals are still declining, owing to droughty conditions. New Zealand white, 66s to 675; colored, 65s to 665. Hemp-The market is firm and has a hardening tendency. There is a general ( and active demand. Holders are firm. New Zealand good fair grade. £31 10s; fair, £'27105; fair current Manila, £31 10s; August to October, New Zealand, good fair, £32; fair, £28; fair current Manila. £31 10s. The output from Manila for the week was 19,000 bales.' Wool-The market is firmer, and the demand is expected to increase.
