A NEW YORK TRAGEDY.
ATLEMPTED MURDER AND SUICIDE. * New York, August G. An extraordinary tragedy was witnessed in Fifth Avenue yesterday. A well-dressed man of middle aye and a handsome yoiing woman were conversing in the street, when the latter produced a letter and began reading it aloud to her friend, apparently to his great annoyance. The young woman, disregarding all commands to stop, went on reading the letter, until at last the man in a fit of desperation, drew a revolver from his pocket and fired three shots at her. He then turned the .weapon upoi himself and blew his brains out. Although still surviving her wounds, the woman is in a critical condition, and is not expected to recover*
