The Te Puke Times TUESDAY, JULY 22 THE TOWN BOARD ELECTION.
The majority of the electors of the Te Puke Town District will no doubt agree that a very workable Board has been chosen to administer local affairs, and although it is, of course, impossible for all to see eye to eye in regard to the members elected, it must be admitted that the Board, as at first constituted, is composed of men possessed of good business qualifications, and' who are animated by a desire to see the town progress. There were, of course, other candidates whose qualifications were probably qui teas good as those of the chosen seven, but who were not sufficiently fortunate to secure the requisite number bf votes. A pleasing feature of last week's election was the good temper that characterised the contest, There was an entire absence of the acrimony and personalities that often render an election of this nature unpleasant, and it was to the credit of the defeated candidates that they accepted the decision of the electors with such good grace. It will, of course, bo some time before the Board can get into working order, and the business to be transacted on Wednesday night will probably be merely of a formal nature, apart from the election of a Chairman. We are sure that the Commissioners, many of whom have had no previous experience, will receive every latitude from the public, whilst they, on their part, will endeavor to merit the confidence reposed in them.
